Role summary

Alstef is hiring a qualified Maintenance Electrician to support its Airport Services team at Auckland Airport. This is a practical, hands-on position focused on keeping baggage handling and related airport systems running reliably. The work is performed on a rotating 24/7 roster, with shifts from 02:00 to 14:00 and 14:00 to 02:00.

Key duties

  • Carry out planned, corrective, and urgent maintenance on airport equipment.
  • Complete assigned maintenance work accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Spot faults proactively and either fix them or escalate them promptly.
  • Keep maintenance logs updated in both paper and digital formats.
  • Follow all health, safety, and aviation security rules at all times.
  • Maintain tidy workspaces and ensure tools are stored correctly.
  • Deal professionally with colleagues, stakeholders, and airport partners.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant will be a registered electrician holding a valid electrical trade qualification. Prior experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance is essential, preferably in an industrial setting and ideally involving conveyor systems or similar equipment. You should also be comfortable working with control systems and troubleshooting faults.

Strong teamwork, initiative, organisation, time management, and communication skills are important. The role requires flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, along with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Why this role may suit you

  • Work in a fast-paced airport environment.
  • Join a close, supportive technical team.
  • Benefit from ongoing learning and development.
  • Contribute directly to a critical operational function.
