Role overview

Sheldon College is seeking an LTS Officer to join its Learn to Swim program at the Sheldon, Queensland campus. The role supports a year-round swimming program delivered in a heated, onsite pool. This opportunity suits both experienced swim instructors and those new to the field, provided they hold the required qualifications.

The position is casual in nature. The College operates Monday to Friday, plus Saturday mornings, and penalty rates apply for Saturday work.

What the role involves

  • Deliver engaging learn-to-swim sessions that build water safety and swimming skills.
  • Create a learning environment that is informative, supportive, and enjoyable for students.
  • Work positively with children and their families and other stakeholders.
  • Support student progress and take satisfaction in helping learners improve.

What you need

  • Passion for water safety and teaching swimming in a fun and constructive way.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including confidence working with children and families.
  • Enthusiasm that aligns with the College philosophy of Love, Laughter and Learning.
  • AUSTSWIM or ASCTA Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety certification, or an equivalent qualification.
  • AUSTSWIM or ASCTA Teacher of Infants certification is desirable.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain it.

Child safety and compliance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Queensland Blue Card for working with children.
  • Commitment to child safety, duty of care, and professional conduct in a school setting.
  • Willingness to follow the College’s child safety and wellbeing policies and procedures.
  • Completion and upkeep of mandatory child protection and child safety training.
  • Responsibility for helping maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.
