Job description
Role overview
Amazon’s operations network moves millions of parcels and customer orders each day with a focus on speed, accuracy, and reliable service. To help keep that network secure and support uninterrupted operations, the company is seeking a practical, detail-focused Security and Loss Prevention Specialist. In this position, you will provide security support to operational sites across the end-to-end supply chain, helping protect people and reduce losses.
Key responsibilities
- Strengthen business continuity by contributing to emergency preparedness and crisis planning for sites in your assigned area.
- Identify potential weak points such as loss exposure, associate experience gaps, and process inefficiencies, then help define suitable corrective actions while staying aligned with legal and ethical requirements.
- Act as a contact point for local management and outside stakeholders, including law enforcement and industry bodies, to coordinate security-related risk management measures.
- Make sure your assigned sites follow Amazon’s global security standards.
What the role looks like day to day
You will work as part of a Security and Loss Prevention team supporting business customers across several business units within a defined geographic region. The role involves regular physical security audits and the investigation of policy breaches, security incidents, and loss events.
Investigation work includes gathering information through system monitoring, data analysis, and interviews. Your conclusions will be used to spot process vulnerabilities and help shape mitigation plans.
You will also help preserve the physical security of each site by checking and tracking the condition of security systems, working with internal specialists and external vendors to keep them operating properly. Day to day, you will coordinate closely with external security service providers to ensure strong service quality and a smooth experience for internal customers.
In addition, you will serve as a point of contact for multiple internal and external teams such as legal, HR, security providers, and local law enforcement, while acting as a subject matter resource on Security and Loss Prevention topics.
The role also includes delivering loss prevention awareness and training programs for other teams and working with stakeholders across all management levels on policy and procedure matters.
Team context
Security and Loss Prevention sits within Global Security Operations and supports Amazon’s business goals and brand protection by reducing threats and managing risks that could endanger associates and customers, interrupt operations, damage assets, or harm reputation.
Working with stakeholders, the team protects the supply chain end to end by preventing security and loss prevention risks early, responding to active incidents to reduce impact, and investigating events thoroughly to address root causes and avoid repeat occurrences.
