Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is for a Logistics Specialist to oversee both domestic and international freight activities for an established purchasing and engineering business that supports manufacturers of machinery, automotive products, electronics, and industrial equipment across Europe and the United States.

The position sits under the Director of Operations and comes with meaningful ownership of the logistics function. The employer also notes that the role includes competitive benefits and requires fluency in German.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end movement of goods among suppliers, affiliated companies, and customers.
  • Run domestic freight sourcing, request bids, and negotiate carrier and transportation pricing.
  • Coordinate shipment tracking and freight execution through third-party logistics partners.
  • Keep regular contact with logistics vendors, suppliers, and customers to support on-time delivery and quickly resolve issues.
  • Oversee ocean freight activities, including booking, scheduling, and the related paperwork.
  • Assist with customs clearance, tariff handling, and trade compliance tasks.
  • Watch shipment progress closely and respond early to delays or supply-chain interruptions.
  • Plan ahead to support inventory movement and customer delivery timelines.
  • Keep logistics data and shipment records accurate in internal systems.

Candidate profile

Applicants should bring at least 5 years of logistics experience and be fluent in German. Prior exposure to domestic freight coordination and trucking bid processes is important, along with a solid understanding of freight terms and transportation operations. Experience with ocean freight shipments and familiarity with customs procedures, tariffs, and compliance requirements are also needed.

The ideal person is comfortable working on their own, thrives in a lean team environment, and can manage several priorities at once with limited supervision. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving ability are essential.

Additional information

This role is intended for a self-driven professional who can take ownership of logistics activities and contribute to smooth supply-chain execution across multiple regions.
