Job description
Job Summary
This role supports the logistics operation by overseeing dispatch weighing activities, including weigh-in and weigh-out checks. The purpose is to make sure every incoming and outgoing truck is measured accurately, properly recorded, and processed quickly enough to support customer requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify the documents a driver presents before the truck is allowed onto the scale.
- Make sure the truck is correctly aligned on the weighbridge before weighing begins.
- Enter delivery note details into the system, including the driver’s name and truck number.
- Release or unblock stock transfer order documents when required.
- Confirm the truck’s weight on the scale before saving the transaction.
- Carry out weigh-in processing using the correct details, capture the data, and store the transaction in the system.
- Log every weigh-in activity in the record book.
- Verify the weight of loaded trucks accurately before updating the system.
- If a truck is loaded above or below the allowed tolerance limit, escalate it to the supervisor for next steps.
- Process weigh-out transactions with the correct information, save the records, and generate waybill or weighment tickets for both empty and loaded trucks through the system.
- Document each weigh-out transaction in the record book.
- Provide hourly updates on the number of trucks weighed in and out.
- Maintain proper filing of all required transaction documents.
- Prepare the closing-hour report and submit it to the supervisor.
- Ensure all weighbridge operations follow the company’s health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the weighbridge supervisor.
Requirements
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in Transport Management, Purchasing & Supplies, or Business Administration.
Skills and Behaviours
- Awareness of the cement manufacturing sector, including its market trends, challenges, opportunities, rules, and regulations.
- Understanding of the company’s products and service portfolio.
- Working knowledge of inventory management terms, methods, and practices.
- Familiarity with basic system-driven inventory management tools.
- Strong ability to analyse issues and solve problems.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Readiness to learn, adjust, and improve in response to changing needs.
- Comfort using support tools and applications such as MS Excel and project management software.
