Job description

Overview

DNEG is building Brahma AI, an end-to-end content system designed to create content with photorealistic digital humans. The platform combines proprietary models for visual identity and voice, enabling enterprise users to produce spoken content across multiple languages. To strengthen quality and ownership, the team is establishing an internal linguistics function focused on making both translated text and generated speech accurate, natural, and polished.

Role Summary

This is a hands-on localisation role for a linguist who will help set the standard for language quality across both text and voice. You will be among the first in-house linguists, work closely with the voice team, and influence the tools, workflows, and review systems used by other linguists. The role goes beyond standard translation work and includes shaping how the localisation and voice platform operates.

What You Will Do

  • Take ownership of language quality for translated content in your assigned language(s), including review, quality control, and corrections.
  • Evaluate AI-generated speech in your language, checking first for linguistic accuracy and then for natural flow, prosody, pronunciation, emotional tone, and timing.
  • Partner directly with the voice team to improve how speech is created and assessed for your language.
  • Help design the linguist experience by improving review flows, screens, and localisation tools; as an early user, you will define what works well.
  • Create and continuously refine linguistic resources such as style guides, glossaries, evaluation standards, pronunciation notes, and pronunciation dictionaries.
  • Set quality expectations and turnaround standards for external vendors and internal native speakers instead of personally handling all production volume.
  • Translate linguistic issues into structured feedback that engineering and product teams can act on.

Who You Are

  • A strong linguist with native or near-native fluency in the target language(s) and solid English communication skills.
  • Formally trained in linguistics, translation, or localisation, or able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience.
  • Comfortable using AI tools in your workflow and interested in helping improve the models and platform that support translation and voice quality.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and effective in a fast-changing environment where processes still need to be built.
  • A clear communicator who can explain language nuance to technical teams and convert broad product goals into precise language requirements.
  • Committed to high quality while staying practical and focused on delivery.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience evaluating voice, text-to-speech, or speech output.
  • Background using localisation tools, CAT tools, or quality assurance platforms.
  • Technical understanding of how language and speech models behave and where they fail.
  • Ability to work in more than one language.

Why This Role Stands Out

You will help shape how digital humans speak in languages used around the world, with direct influence over both the quality of the output and the systems that generate it. This is a build-from-scratch role focused on creating new capabilities rather than maintaining existing ones.
