About the role
Tesco Ireland is looking for a Line Manager to lead a department and its team, helping to deliver an excellent shopping experience for customers. The position reports to the Deputy Manager and plays a key part in keeping the store running well and serving shoppers better every day. What you will do
- Create a positive, welcoming atmosphere for both colleagues and customers.
- Take charge of the store when the Store Manager or Deputy Manager is unavailable.
- Make sure team members are trained, assessed, and confident in their responsibilities.
- Promote open communication and a culture built on trust and collaboration.
- Coach and guide colleagues so daily priorities are completed on time and customer needs are met.
- Use reports and systems to identify improvements for customers and colleagues.
- Support a zero food waste culture by monitoring date codes and preventing edible food from being wasted.
- Recruit strong team members who are motivated to deliver great customer service.
- Understand store cleaning standards and ensure your team follows them, leading by example where needed.
- Oversee stock control, warehouse layout, and related processes so routines are completed correctly the first time.
- Investigate pricing issues, overcharges, refunds, and label routines so customers are charged correctly.
- Manage front-end operations to reduce customer queues.
- Recognise strong service, give positive feedback, and address service issues when standards are not met.
What you need
You should be comfortable taking ownership in a fast-moving retail environment and have a strong track record of delivering for customers and colleagues. The role calls for someone adaptable, proactive, and able to influence at a senior level. Previous retail experience in a similar position is preferred.
