Role Overview

This is an exciting opening for a Lifeguard at Places Leisure in Ashington. The role offers a lively, team-oriented environment where you will help create a positive atmosphere and encourage everyone to work together and perform at their best.

Holding a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is preferred, and in some cases may be supported through the organisation’s learning and development pathway for candidates who are safety-conscious, confident swimmers, and keen to build practical life skills. The position also offers a strong progression pathway into areas such as operational management, sales, fitness, or customer service.

As part of the role, you will receive ongoing training and competency checks, along with potential access to first aid at work training, swimming teacher qualifications, and apprenticeship opportunities.

Key Duties

• Keep watch over customers and fellow lifeguards using the swimming pool and other aquatic facilities.
• Maintain a strong safety focus at all times and take responsibility for the health and safety of all pool users, while also helping oversee building operations.
• Pay close attention to detail to ensure customers remain safe while using the centre’s facilities.
• Provide excellent customer service by dealing with visitors in a warm, professional, and helpful manner, consistently aiming to exceed expectations.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and step in to support cleanliness requirements whenever needed.

Candidate Profile

A National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is essential for this role.

You should be safety-minded, attentive, a strong swimmer, and comfortable working in a busy public environment. A friendly, professional manner and a commitment to excellent service are important, along with the ability to uphold cleanliness and safety standards.
