Job description

Role overview

This position is responsible for leading advanced commercial intelligence and market analysis work that turns complex data into practical recommendations. The role supports pricing choices, market positioning, and wider commercial performance by delivering structured insights and scenario-based guidance.

The incumbent will study global and regional market movements, including supply and demand patterns and the factors that influence pricing. The insights produced are expected to help shape revenue, margin, and netback outcomes.

Working closely with Market Intelligence, Pricing, Sales, and Planning teams, the role acts as a central link to ensure market understanding is reflected in commercial execution and business decisions.

Key accountabilities

  • Direct detailed analysis of international and regional market developments, covering supply-demand shifts, price changes, and macroeconomic influences.
  • Bring together market information into clear, decision-ready summaries that support commercial and strategic choices.
  • Track major market indicators and flag risks or opportunities that may affect revenue and margin performance.
  • Contribute to demand forecasting and market outlooks in line with planning and budgeting cycles.

Minimum qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Engineering, or another analytically focused discipline is required.

A master’s degree such as an MBA, MSc in Economics, Finance, Strategy, or Market Intelligence is strongly preferred because the role is strategic and leadership-oriented.

Professional certifications in market intelligence, analytics, strategy, or finance, such as CFA, PMI, or similar credentials, will be viewed as an added advantage.

Experience

The role requires 7–10 years of relevant experience in commercial intelligence, pricing analysis, market intelligence, or commercial strategy, ideally within metals, mining, or heavy industrial environments.

Competencies

  • Strong analytical ability to assess market trends, pricing drivers, and commercial results.
