The role focuses on quality assurance and quality control for Electrical and C&I equipment used across power plant projects. The incumbent will work closely with engineering, vendor, and project teams to keep quality activities aligned with project needs and standards.

Position Purpose

The primary objective is to manage QA/QC responsibilities for Electrical and C&I packages across different power plant equipment. The role requires the ability to work independently, take quick decisions, guide a team of engineers, and oversee quality control and assurance for multiple power projects at the same time.

Key Accountabilities

The selected professional should be able to plan and execute actions to resolve quality issues related to Electrical and C&I packages. This includes handling vendor-side assignments when needed, supporting vendor development, and carrying out type testing activities for electrical equipment. Short-term deputation to manufacturing locations may be required.

Scope of Work

The role includes supporting QA/QC work for Electrical and C&I packages by reviewing specifications, preparing deviations and clarifications, and creating QA documentation for RFQs. The person should also manage inspection and QA/QC activities at vendor facilities independently. Strong interpersonal skills are important for effective coordination with internal teams and external vendors.

Experience and Background

The ideal candidate should hold a B.E. in Electrical Engineering from a reputed institution and have 8 to 12 years of experience in project bidding support, quality assurance, vendor control, and inspection of Electrical and C&I equipment. Exposure to overseas customers and EPC environments will be an added advantage.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Support project bidding through deviation notes, clarification responses, risk assessment, and cost estimation.
  • Prepare testing requirements for Electrical and C&I equipment with customer participation where needed.
  • Develop equipment test plans for items such as HT motors, transformers, generators, VFDs, electrical panels, switchgear, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
  • Examine type-test certificates for Electrical and C&I equipment.
  • Check test certificates against the approved quality plan.
  • Review vendor quotations and discuss QA/QC compliance requirements.
  • Perform vendor audits, assessments, and development activities.
  • Carry out field quality assurance work for Electrical and C&I packages.
  • Apply non-conformance management, root cause analysis, and the 7 quality tools.
  • Work with QMS / ISO 9001:2015 processes and function as an internal auditor.
  • Understand supplier quality requirements and ensure consistent coordination with vendors.
  • Review and approve manufacturer inspection and test plans, along with testing procedures.
  • Conduct site and vendor audits as per the planned schedule and recommend corrective actions.

Standards and Knowledge Required

The role requires familiarity with IEEE, IEC, IS, NEMA, and CENELEC standards relevant to Electrical and C&I equipment. The candidate should also have strong technical understanding of manufacturing and testing practices followed by vendors.

Other Expectations

The selected professional should be prepared for long-term deputation at vendor locations, including domestic and overseas sites. Experience working with multiple vendors and supporting quality activities across several projects simultaneously is desirable.

Preferred Profile

Applicants should be capable of independent work, fast decision-making, and effective team guidance. Strong coordination, vendor management, and quality problem-solving abilities are important for success in this role.

Preferred candidate profile

This role is best suited to a senior electrical quality professional with hands-on experience in inspection, testing, vendor control, and project quality management within EPC or power plant environments.
