Job Role and Responsibilities
- Prepare reports related to internal linings, claddings, and materials engineering disciplines.
- Estimate corrosion rates using advanced tools like ECE software and recommend cost-effective, appropriate materials and coating solutions.
- Apply knowledge of API, NACE, ASTM, and other international standards in material selection and corrosion control.
- Develop specifications for painting, surface preparation, rust prevention based on client feedback, technical queries, alignment methods, and organizational requirements.
- Evaluate technical contract requirements and identify challenges to optimize design and cost, especially for components impacting project timelines.
- Conduct technical bid assessments for vendor proposals involving static equipment, rotary components, piping, pipelines, and instrumentation items as part of Material and Certificate (M&C) reviews.
- Promote health, safety, and environmental (HSE) considerations within material selection processes.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor of Engineering or Technology degree in Metallurgical Engineering is mandatory.
- Minimum of 16 years of experience in the field.
- Expert knowledge in selecting metallic and non-metallic materials, metallurgy, welding, corrosion principles and protection, corrosion management, and maintenance of pipelines and static equipment.
- Experience managing corrosion protection systems including cathodic protection and coating systems.
- Proven capability in delivering specialized material solutions for sour service environments, steam, and other advanced recovery technologies.
- Familiarity with technical challenges in high-pressure and high H2S facilities, including experience managing teams in high-risk operational settings.
- Proficient understanding of pipe wall thickness, piping material specifications, valves, special items, MR, TBE, and VDR of piping components is favorable.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international codes and standards such as ASME, NACE, SSPC, and API.
