Job Summary
The Laundry Aide supports a clean and comfortable living environment by handling residents’ clothing, linens, and other facility laundry from collection through delivery. The role also requires consistent adherence to infection prevention practices and workplace safety standards.
Key Duties
- Gather used linens, garments, towels, and other laundry items from resident areas and departments.
- Separate items by color, fabric type, and washing instructions before processing.
- Use washers, dryers, and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Neatly fold, sort, label, and return cleaned laundry to residents and assigned locations.
- Check items for stains, damage, or special care needs and handle them accordingly.
- Keep the laundry room tidy, orderly, and well maintained.
- Work in line with infection control practices, safety rules, and OSHA requirements.
- Notify supervisors when machines need repair or are not working properly.
- Track and maintain enough laundry chemicals and other supplies.
- Support housekeeping tasks when needed.
- Interact politely and professionally with residents, families, and coworkers.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Prior exposure to laundry work, housekeeping, or healthcare is helpful but not mandatory.
- Must be able to use laundry equipment safely.
- Should be able to understand and follow both written and spoken directions.
- Good attention to detail and strong organizational habits are important.
- Ability to work alone as well as collaboratively is required.
Physical Demands
This role involves staying on your feet, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift. You should be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, move laundry carts, and work in a warm setting while safely handling cleaning chemicals.
Work Schedule
Part-time and full-time opportunities are available. Shifts may include weekends, holidays, and flexible scheduling.
