Role overview
This position supports the day-to-day laundry function at an Autograph by Marriott resort in Kananaskis Village, Alberta. The role involves processing hotel linens, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry so that items are cleaned to the property’s standards, returned on schedule, and handled in a safe, efficient manner. The workplace is in the Canadian Rockies, and subsidized staff housing is available.
Key duties
- Separate, wash, dry, fold, and press linens, towels, uniforms, and guest items according to established procedures.
- Check laundry for stains, wear, or damage and report missing or defective items to the supervisor.
- Use detergents, chemicals, and machinery in line with safety requirements and brand standards.
- Load and unload machines carefully while keeping production moving to meet daily needs.
- Process guest laundry by tagging, cleaning, pressing, and packing it appropriately.
- Move completed items to the assigned storage locations or floors as instructed.
- Follow departmental policies, procedures, and quality expectations at all times.
Workplace safety and cleanliness
- Keep the laundry area orderly, hygienic, and free from hazards.
- Observe all health, safety, and sanitation rules, including correct chemical handling and equipment use.
- Raise maintenance concerns, equipment faults, or unsafe conditions with the supervisor or manager without delay.
- Take part in safety instruction, including emergency response and chemical safety practices.
- Use personal protective equipment correctly.
Equipment and inventory support
- Operate washers, dryers, ironers, and folding equipment safely and properly.
- Carry out basic daily cleaning and upkeep of equipment.
- Track linen levels and flag shortages or unusual damage when noticed.
- Support linen inventory checks as needed.
Experience and education
A post-secondary diploma or degree is required. Prior experience in laundry or housekeeping is helpful but not mandatory. The role suits someone who can learn laundry equipment quickly, understands fabric care and stain treatment, and can follow instructions while maintaining quality. Basic communication and teamwork skills are also important.
Physical and schedule requirements
This is a physically demanding role in a warm, fast-moving environment. You should be able to stand and walk for the full shift, repeatedly lift laundry in and out of machines, carry loads up to 50 lbs, and push or pull up to 100 lbs. The job involves exposure to cleaning chemicals while wearing PPE. Flexible availability is needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation and benefits
The wage for this role is $21.00 per hour.
