Role overview

Oriel House Hotel is looking for an experienced laundry attendant, accommodation assistant, or linen porter to join its busy laundry and hotel operations team on a full-time basis.

Job purpose

The role focuses on keeping the hotel supplied with fresh, clean linen and supporting the accommodation team whenever needed. Duties include handling laundry processes such as sorting, washing, drying, pressing, and folding textile items. The position also involves helping to maintain guest bedrooms and shared hotel areas to a high standard.

Key duties

  • Manage the laundry area and make sure clean linen is prepared and delivered to the hotel, and to other hotels when required.
  • Carry out laundry tasks including sorting, washing, drying, ironing/pressing, and folding clothing and linen.
  • Step in to support accommodation staff when they are unavailable or when requested by the Accommodation Manager or Assistant Accommodation Manager.
  • Clean and maintain guest bedrooms, bathrooms, storage areas, corridors, and other public areas to a high standard.
  • Assist with cleaning duties across bedrooms, corridors, leisure club areas, staff quarters, and other areas when needed.
  • Communicate with guests in a professional way and help ensure their needs and requests are addressed.

Requirements

  • Previous experience is required; experience in hotel laundry work is preferred but not essential.
  • The ability to work independently and pay close attention to detail is important.
  • Strong spoken and written English is required.
  • You must be able to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Flexibility for shift work and weekend work is necessary.
  • Availability for up to 32 to 39 hours per week, including weekdays and weekends, may be needed.
  • A full driving licence is an advantage.
