Role Summary
AECOM is hiring a meticulous and analytical Land Surveyor in Dubai, United Arab Emirates to support infrastructure works by producing accurate measurements, alignments, and survey control. The role is central to construction execution, especially for stormwater drainage and microtunneling activities, and requires strong field discipline, technical accuracy, and coordination with contractors and supervision teams.
Key Duties
- Carry out topographic, control, and setting-out surveys for infrastructure works, including stormwater drainage and microtunneling.
- Set up, check, and preserve survey control points, benchmarks, and reference grids.
- Interpret approved drawings, alignment information, and coordinate systems in line with project needs and local requirements.
- Measure horizontal and vertical alignments, pipe inverts, tunnel drives, and shaft positions with precision.
- Complete as-built surveys and confirm the accuracy of contractors’ as-built records and drawings.
- Track microtunneling drive alignment and breakthrough coordinates while staying within permitted tolerances.
- Keep field books, survey logs, and digital records current and organized.
- Work with contractors and site supervision staff to address survey variances or on-site deviations.
- Check and endorse survey outputs for measurement sheets, interim payment documentation, and progress assessments.
- Attend pre-construction and progress meetings to contribute survey updates and identify required actions.
- Follow health and safety rules during all field activities.
- Calibrate, inspect, and maintain survey equipment as per quality assurance procedures.
- Support testing, commissioning, and handover by confirming final levels and coordinates.
Candidate Profile
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
- At least 7 years of experience in surveying and setting-out on infrastructure projects is expected.
- Hands-on ability with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GPS, Total Station, and related survey tools is needed.
- Strong command of coordinate systems, datum control, and vertical alignment checks is essential.
- Experience with deep pipelines, shaft construction, and tunnel alignment monitoring is required.
- RTA approval and certification for Microtunneling Works is mandatory.
- Familiarity with RTA, DM, and DEWA standards for utility and infrastructure projects is necessary.
- Expertise in stormwater drainage and microtunneling works is expected.
- Working knowledge of UAE construction procedures, particularly in Dubai, is important.
- Strong numeracy and problem-solving ability are needed.
- High attention to detail and consistent accuracy are critical.
- Good physical fitness is required for field-based work.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- A minimum 3-year diploma in Civil or Survey, or an equivalent college/university qualification, is preferred as a relevant qualification.
- RTA/DM approval is preferred.
