Job description

Role overview

This position is for a land surveyor with a background in landscape-related projects, such as irrigation, streetscapes, parks, and infrastructure. The role calls for hands-on experience with surveying methods, geodetic computations, CAD tools, and GPS-based equipment to support accurate construction surveying and as-built records. You will work closely with clients, contractors, and the Resident Engineer while helping ensure site safety, quality standards, and delivery timelines are met.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify elevations, setting-out work, and other survey activities carried out by the contractor to confirm accuracy, and advise the Resident Engineer on any corrective actions needed.
  • Keep construction survey records and quantity documentation updated in line with instructions from the Resident Engineer.
  • Carry out baseline and control surveys at the start of the project, including setting up benchmarks.
  • Respond to contractor survey requests, including checks on centerlines, structures, and slope stakes.
  • Review field measurements such as original and final cross sections, critical elevations, dimensions, locations of structural elements, earthwork grading, pavement, and appurtenances; also review the contractor’s detailed surveys before construction and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Support the agreed format and methods for quantity calculations and documentation.
  • Assist with calibration and verification of survey instruments.
  • Take part in as-built review and finalization activities with the Resident Engineer, land surveyors, and inspectors.
  • Conduct land and field surveys along with geodetic calculations.
  • Coordinate with clients and contractors to confirm survey requirements for the project.
  • Deliver surveying tasks on time and within labor-hour and cost targets.
  • Check setting-out levels and verify service locations, ensuring they are protected.
  • Prepare field sketches and retain complete survey records, including books, sketches, and calculations.
  • Measure completed work when needed.
  • Follow site safety procedures at all times.
  • Help prepare as-built drawings.
  • Participate actively in all health and safety matters on site as directed by the Resident Engineer and project safety representative.
  • Carry out other duties that reasonably fall within the scope of the role.

Candidate profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, supported by relevant experience in landscape projects.
  • Previous exposure to hospitality and residential projects in Abu Dhabi is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in landscape work, including landscape, irrigation, streetscape, parks, and infrastructure projects.
  • Practical knowledge of CAD and survey software, plus experience with total stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment.
  • Ability to read working drawings and related specifications and apply them correctly on site.
  • Strong computer skills, including the use of technology for data access, recordkeeping, reporting, and project-related engineering/construction software.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills, along with strong organizational and interpersonal ability to work effectively with project teams and management.

  • Tax-free pay package.
  • Life insurance coverage.
  • Medical insurance.
  • Annual leave balance.
  • Company gratuity scheme.
  • Discretionary bonus plan.
  • Annual flight contribution.
