Job description

Role overview

This position sits within McKinsey & Company’s Saudi Client Capabilities Hub in Riyadh. The role is focused on providing subject-matter depth in chemicals, especially maintenance, reliability, and operations, while supporting client work across the EEMA region. You will collaborate with teams that help clients build practical capabilities, strengthen delivery systems, and sustain results after recommendations have been shared.

What you'll do

In this role, you will contribute across the full client engagement cycle, from early business development through project delivery and relationship management. You will work closely with clients to analyze problems, uncover insights, and translate findings into actionable recommendations. You will also help maintain and develop proprietary knowledge assets together with specialists in local and global practices.

You will be based in Riyadh and work alongside the Global Energy and Materials practice, supporting chemicals clients both locally and internationally. The broader network includes thousands of client-facing professionals with deep expertise across industries and functions, and the culture emphasizes innovation, learning, and measurable client impact.

Working environment

The organization highlights a high-performance, high-reward setting where resilience, curiosity, and continuous improvement are important. Team members receive coaching, mentorship, apprenticeship-style learning, and exposure designed to accelerate professional growth. Contributions are expected to be meaningful from the start, with an emphasis on ethics, integrity, and diverse viewpoints.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical, or petroleum engineering. The position requires more than 3 years of professional experience in the petrochemical sector, with a strong understanding of the petrochemical market, including downstream chemicals. Experience in chemical process engineering, operational improvement, project management, or strategic decision-making within petrochemicals is considered an advantage.

Candidates must be comfortable working with numbers and quantitative models, bring strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and demonstrate solid business judgment with understanding of key economic and financial concepts. The role also calls for strong multitasking skills, a service-focused mindset, the ability to collaborate across all levels of an organization, and the capability to explain complex ideas clearly.

Language requirements

English fluency is mandatory. Arabic fluency is preferred.

Compensation and benefits

The compensation package is described as competitive and based on location, experience, and skills. A comprehensive benefits package is offered to support the well-being of employees and their families.
