Role Overview

The Key Account Manager will own relationships with strategically important customers, helping the business grow while keeping client satisfaction high. The role needs a strong grasp of the customer’s installed equipment, their operational priorities, and the ability to work smoothly with internal teams to deliver successful outcomes.

This position serves as the main contact for multiple departments within the client organization that have active requests or projects with GTS. Typical activities include maintenance-related work, spare parts support, and identifying new business opportunities. The KAM is expected to coordinate and lead these activities so that all internal and external stakeholders stay aligned and informed.

The broader objective is to strengthen the company’s business with existing accounts, support long-term growth, and build lasting customer loyalty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and sustain trusted relationships across the client’s management structure and act as the primary contact for all departments involved in GTS-related demands and projects.
  • Handle projects that may include site maintenance, spare parts needs, and the creation of new business opportunities.
  • Keep all stakeholders, both internal and external, updated in a clear and timely manner throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships by delivering services that match or exceed expectations.
  • Support sales efforts by spotting new opportunities, increasing revenue potential, and improving profitability.
  • Manage projects from start to finish, including scoping, planning, execution, and final delivery.
  • Track project progress and share regular status updates with relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct business reviews with customers to gauge satisfaction and identify improvement areas.
  • Discover additional scope within existing accounts and work with Sales and Project teams to prepare proposals and win new work.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Projects, and Operations teams to deliver excellent customer service and achieve shared goals.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports and forecasts for internal and external audiences.
  • Improve efficiency in account planning, documentation, and record management.
  • Follow company procedures, policies, and the Code of Conduct at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records, share information promptly, and complete assigned duties efficiently.
  • Support the company’s reputation and commercial interests in all dealings.
  • Comply with applicable health and safety laws and internal safety guidelines.
  • Carry out other reasonable tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, with significant exposure to major turnaround projects involving steam turbines and turbo compressors in large organizations.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related function or a comparable position.
  • Strong technical knowledge of steam turbines and turbo compressors.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written; German language ability is an added advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Capability to negotiate complex project matters independently.
  • Sound understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to influence contractors to improve safety, quality, and production outcomes.
  • Well-developed understanding of both the technical and commercial sides of the business.
  • Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent diploma from an accredited college or university.
  • Ability to lead change across business units, functions, and cultures.
  • Proven ability to strengthen customer satisfaction through open communication, transparency, and strong relationships.
  • Experience in multicultural and international environments is preferred.
