About the Role
Hood is seeking a full-time Junior Social Media Manager to join our remote team. This position is perfect for an individual deeply immersed in online culture, possessing a keen understanding of viral internet trends and what resonates on social media platforms. The core of this role involves discovering, producing, and preparing highly engaging content, including videos, memes, and news-based posts, for daily publication.
Your primary duties will include sourcing viral content ideas, identifying trending videos and news, crafting compelling captions, preparing content for distribution, cross-posting across various channels, and actively engaging with our online community. A strong grasp of U.S. internet culture, meme trends, viral phenomena, pop culture, and social media user behavior is essential. We are looking for someone who can anticipate content that will generate shares, comments, and reactions before it becomes widespread.
Responsibilities
- Source viral videos, meme-worthy content, and news-style posts suitable for social media distribution.
- Research trending topics, significant internet culture moments, celebrity and pop culture news, and viral conversations.
- Develop and organize daily content concepts for approval.
- Write compelling captions that align with the tone of each piece of content.
- Submit content for review and subsequent posting.
- Cross-post approved content across all active social media platforms.
- Engage with the audience through comments, replies, and community interaction.
- Monitor social media trends to identify emerging content opportunities.
- Assist in maintaining a consistent content posting schedule.
- Analyze content performance to refine future content ideas.
Requirements
- Must be based in Canada or the United States.
- Previous experience in social media management is necessary.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of U.S. internet culture, viral trends, memes, and pop culture.
- Proven ability to identify content with high engagement potential.
- Excellent caption-writing skills.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced content creation environment.
- Must be organized, reliable, and capable of consistent content submission.
- A portfolio or examples of prior social media work must be provided.
- While junior candidates are encouraged, practical experience in managing or contributing to social media pages is required.
Compensation
This role includes a base salary along with the possibility of commission or performance-based bonuses.
