Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is with a long-established Irish contractor specialising in construction and building services. The organisation has been active for more than 70 years and delivers work across commercial, healthcare, education, and heritage projects. Alongside construction, fit-out, and facilities services, it also has a technology arm focused on smart building systems, audio-visual solutions, and integrated end-to-end technology delivery.

The business is looking for an enthusiastic and self-driven Junior Procurement Officer to join its operations team. The position supports procurement, accounts, ESG activity, and fleet and tool administration, while working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and the Procurement Manager.

Key duties

  • Raise and send purchase orders through procurement software and maintain good supplier relationships so queries are handled promptly.
  • Assist the accounts function by making sure supplier delivery paperwork is captured and processed correctly in the procurement system.
  • Send enquiries to suppliers for materials, plant hire, tools, and vehicles, then compare quotations and prepare summaries for management review.
  • Serve as the primary contact for company fleet administration.
  • Manage plant and tools through Hilti OnTrack.
  • Support the roll-out of ESG initiatives over the next 12 to 24 months, including help with software implementation for tracking and reporting carbon footprint data.

Candidate profile

  • At least 1 to 2 years of experience in an administrative position.
  • Procurement experience is an advantage, though it does not need to come from construction or technology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of construction and/or technology products and services is considered beneficial.
  • Good people skills and the ability to work smoothly with different departments.
  • Practical problem-solving ability, a proactive mindset, and a can-do approach.
  • Comfortable handling confidential information with discretion.

Personal attributes valued

  • Positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Focus on results and outcomes.
  • Clear communication in both written and spoken form.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and always looking for improvements.
  • Flexible team player who works hard.
  • Trustworthy, dependable, and quick to respond.
  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to manage time well and prioritise tasks effectively.

Benefits

  • Pension scheme.
  • Income protection and death-in-service cover.
  • Employee Assistance Programme membership.
  • Opportunity to build a career and grow within the company.
  • Competitive pay, depending on experience and qualifications.
