Role Overview
This opening is for a Junior Data Scientist supporting a federal client with data analysis and predictive model development on the Databricks platform. The role combines analytical work, pipeline development, and visualization in a hybrid setup with two days per week in the McLean, VA office.
What You Will Do
- Prepare and clean datasets, and build ETL processes using SQL and Python.
- Perform analytical work with SQL and Python to support decision-making.
- Create and maintain data pipelines in Databricks.
- Develop visual outputs and dashboards using Databricks tools.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. citizen.
- A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred, ideally in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of professional experience is needed.
- Working knowledge of FAIR principles, data governance practices, and AI ethics is expected.
- Practical experience with Databricks administration and security features, including Unity Catalog setup, privilege controls, and workspace administration, is required.
- Databricks certifications are considered an advantage.
- Strong written documentation, analytical thinking, and communication skills are important.
- The position is hybrid, with 2 days per week required on site in McLean, VA.

Compensation
The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and education.
