Job summary
This role is for a Buyer who will keep day-to-day operations supplied with the materials, equipment, and services needed to run efficiently. You will partner with vendors and internal teams to source items, negotiate costs, manage supplier relationships, and find ways to improve purchasing performance and overall spend.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, source, and buy materials, supplies, and services based on business requirements.
- Evaluate potential vendors by reviewing factors such as quality, pricing, responsiveness, and dependability.
- Compare bids, quotations, and proposals to determine the most cost-effective option.
- Work with suppliers to agree on pricing, contract terms, and purchasing conditions.
- Monitor purchase orders and confirm that deliveries arrive on time and meet expected quality standards.
- Keep vendor information up to date and assess supplier performance over time.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand purchasing needs and provide procurement support.
- Make sure all purchasing activity follows company procedures and applicable rules or regulations.
- Spot opportunities to lower costs, streamline processes, and improve supplier relationships.
- Compile reports on buying activity, spending patterns, and vendor performance.
- Stay informed about market changes, supplier updates, and procurement best practices.
- Assist with other related projects and tasks as assigned.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or a similar function.
- Strong skills in negotiation, communication, and relationship management.
- Comfort using procurement software, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools.
- Working knowledge of purchasing workflows, contracts, and procurement compliance.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle several priorities at once.
Preferred qualifications
- Professional procurement certification such as CPSM or CPM.
- Experience using e-procurement systems and other digital buying tools.
- Exposure to international sourcing or cross-border procurement practices.
- Familiarity with sustainability efforts and ethical sourcing principles.
