Role overview

This opening is for a curious and detail-focused Junior Business and Data Analyst to join the analytics team in San Francisco. The role is intended for someone with at least 2 years of practical experience in an analytics or data-driven environment. Academic knowledge alone is not enough; the role requires hands-on work with real datasets, imperfect inputs, and outputs that were actually used by stakeholders.

You will help the business make better decisions by developing reports, writing SQL, and turning data into insights that explain performance and highlight opportunities. You will partner with senior analysts and business teams while building your ability in analytics, forecasting, and data storytelling.

What you will do

  • Study data to uncover trends, recurring patterns, irregularities, and root causes behind performance changes.
  • Support KPI monitoring, data quality validation, and governance-related activities.
  • Create and sustain business intelligence reports while applying core statistical methods.
  • Act as a day-to-day data partner for commercial and account management teams by identifying operational gaps and helping guide priorities.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries using joins, CTEs, and window functions, and help improve query performance where needed.
  • Work with established warehouse structures and data models to retrieve and transform information for reporting.
  • Record data logic and query definitions to support validation and reconciliation.
  • Assist with scenario model improvements, monitor forecast accuracy, and contribute to reporting on projections.
  • Build dashboards and recurring reports, and create clear visualizations that follow best practices.
  • Support quarterly business review preparation and executive reporting, including some automated reporting work.

What the company is looking for

  • At least 2 years of experience in an analytics or data-related role.
  • Strong SQL skills, including the ability to work with joins, CTEs, and window functions in real production queries.
  • Working experience with Tableau, Microsoft Excel, Redshift, and Databricks.
  • Regular use of AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT as part of an everyday workflow.
  • Natural curiosity about data, with a habit of investigating unexpected results and asking clarifying questions early.
  • Ability to collect and document business requirements, work across functions, and support business case development.
  • Skill in presenting findings clearly, translating results into plain language, and preparing materials for executive audiences.
  • Comfort with hypothesis testing under guidance and willingness to build stronger structured thinking skills.
  • Ability to spot trends, detect anomalies, and contribute useful observations for strategic recommendations.

Compensation and benefits

The salary range for this San Francisco role is USD 75,000 to 95,000 annually, along with equity and benefits.

  • Competitive compensation
  • Employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Flexible paid time off
  • Competitive 401(k)
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Paid parental leave
  • Health and wellness programs
