Role Overview

SSC Services for Education is seeking full-time janitors for an immediate start at Mercy University in Dobbs Ferry, New York. This role supports the upkeep of educational facilities by keeping buildings tidy, sanitary, and safe. There are also openings at other locations within the school district. Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with a schedule running from Monday through Sunday. Shift timings can vary and include evening and overnight hours. Additional schedule details will be shared during the interview. Full-time and part-time flexibility may be available to meet different scheduling needs.

Compensation

The position offers a fixed wage of $18.37 per hour.

What the Job Involves

The janitor will be responsible for maintaining clean, orderly spaces and carrying out heavy-duty cleaning tasks such as floor care, rug shampooing, wall and glass washing, and trash removal.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Dispose of waste in line with approved procedures and infection control standards.
• Dust and wet-mop floors according to required cleaning methods.
• Move furniture and equipment to clean areas properly, then return them to the correct place.
• Clean assigned spaces using the provided supplies and tools, including sanitizing all surfaces and following the eight-step cleaning process.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and similar surfaces to support a clean and safe setting for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Identify areas that need attention and take initiative to address them without waiting to be asked.
• Complete tasks assigned by the supervisor.
• Carry out duties in accordance with federal, state, and county regulations.
• Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors, and shampoo carpets as needed.
• Work cooperatively with the team and maintain professionalism with customers, coworkers, and others.
• Handle any additional duties assigned by management.

Experience Needed

Applicants must already have experience in floor care, carpet care, event setup, and event breakdown.
