Role overview

NextGen Steel is looking for a junior-level IT Support Officer who is proactive, service-oriented, and comfortable helping users with day-to-day technical issues. This full-time onsite role focuses on keeping IT services running smoothly while building hands-on experience with systems, devices, and support processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for basic issues involving hardware, software, and systems.
  • Set up, install, and maintain computers, peripherals, and commonly used business applications.
  • Help manage network access, user accounts, and requests for system permissions.
  • Record support cases, monitor their progress, and close them in line with service expectations.
  • Investigate technical faults, apply practical fixes where possible, and escalate more complex problems when needed.
  • Assist staff with IT questions and deliver responsive, professional customer service.
  • Support routine system upkeep such as updates, security checks, backups, and other maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking basics.
  • Good problem-solving ability and a practical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Clear communication skills and a strong customer service mindset.
  • Capability to juggle several requests and prioritize work effectively.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Office and other standard business tools is beneficial.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and grow technical skills over time.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
