Role overview

BDO Ireland is hiring an IT Technician to strengthen its IT function in Dublin. The position focuses on delivering responsive, courteous technical support to users both in the office and from a remote setting. You will be expected to handle incidents carefully from first log through to resolution or escalation, keeping records current in the helpdesk system at all times.

This opportunity is well suited to someone with hands-on experience in laptop and desktop support, application deployment, Active Directory administration, and Office 365 management. The role also involves supporting a wide range of devices and applications while maintaining a high standard of user service.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver dependable IT assistance to staff members in person and remotely, always maintaining a professional and approachable manner.
  • Record, review, prioritise, troubleshoot, and where necessary escalate IT issues, ensuring every update is reflected in the helpdesk ticketing platform.
  • Support users through remote access tools as well as at their desks when direct assistance is needed.
  • Provide hardware support and maintenance, including tasks such as rebuilding or reimaging computers.
  • Install and support software across the user base.
  • Carry out Active Directory-related tasks.
  • Set up and administer Office 365 services.
  • Assist with general support for business applications, Office 365, Windows 10, iPhone and iPad devices, and corporate smartphones.
  • Support and maintain multifunction printers and similar shared devices.
  • Help deliver IT support for internal meetings and events, including audio-visual equipment setup and troubleshooting.

Skills and experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in a comparable IT support position.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders at different levels.
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience supporting Windows 10 and Windows 11 in a corporate environment.
  • Motivation to keep learning and build technical capability.
  • Solid diagnostic and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfort using remote support tools and desk-side support methods.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills.
  • Collaborative, team-focused working style.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified IT Professional are advantageous.
