Role summary

South Australia Police is hiring an ongoing full-time IS&T Support Officer based in Adelaide (5000). This position sits within the Information Systems & Technology service, which supports frontline policing and corporate functions by providing ICT infrastructure, communication platforms, operational applications, support services, and specialised radio and technology capabilities.

The role provides broad administrative support across the IS&T function, with a strong focus on finance, procurement, and human resource administration. It contributes to the smooth daily running of the department through coordination, process support, and stakeholder service.

What the team does

The IS&T service helps SAPOL deliver and evolve its technology capability through high-quality ICT change programs. It operates across four main areas: Strategy, Innovation and Engagement; Program Delivery; Operational Services; and Security and Assurance. The service also includes specialist radio and technology work, including laser and radar calibration services.

Key purpose of the position

The IS&T Support Officer plays an important part in keeping the team organised and effective by supporting finance, procurement, administration, workforce coordination, reporting, budgeting, recruitment, and onboarding. The role works with a wide range of stakeholders and supports good governance and continuous improvement across the function.

Through reliable operational support, the position enables technical teams to stay focused on delivering services and projects that benefit the organisation. The role also helps build a customer-focused, well-structured, and efficient working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support across the IS&T function.
  • Assist with finance, procurement, and human resource administration tasks.
  • Manage procurement and accounts-related processes.
  • Support financial reporting and budgeting activities.
  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding activities.
  • Maintain registers, databases, and spreadsheets using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Access, or similar systems.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports, correspondence, and other documentation.
  • Manage records, document control, and both routine and complex administrative correspondence.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across different levels of the organisation.
  • Contribute to service quality, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the smooth and efficient operation of the department.

Essential requirements

  • Ability to work with limited direction while using initiative and good judgement to deliver administrative support.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to use lateral and conceptual reasoning to solve problems.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deal with people at all levels.
  • Experience creating high-quality reports, letters, and other written material.
  • Ability to build and maintain registers, databases, and spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel, Access, or similar systems.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, including the ability to handle competing priorities and deadlines.
  • High standards of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Experience providing wide-ranging administrative support, including records management and document control.
  • Practical understanding of administrative, financial, procurement, and/or human resource processes in a government or similarly regulated setting.

Special conditions

  • The successful applicant must have current Australian work eligibility.
  • A criminal history check will be required.
  • Other duties at the same remuneration level, or an equivalent level, may be assigned.
  • Some work outside standard hours may be required.
  • Intra-state and inter-state travel may be necessary.
  • The incumbent will need to take part in SAPOL’s iEngage program.

Salary

The salary range is ASO3: $71,589 to $76,033 per annum.
