About the Role

CGS Federal is seeking a skilled Investigative Auditor to join their Finance department in Albany, NY. This mid-level, full-time position involves supporting a major federal agency by applying auditing and fraud detection expertise to assist with litigation processes. Job Duties

  • Aid Assistant U.S. Attorneys (AUSAs) and investigative bodies in conducting in-depth financial, statistical, healthcare, and forensic accounting analyses for civil fraud investigations and related legal proceedings.
  • Scrutinize and audit financial transactions, accounting systems, healthcare claims, reimbursement data, procurement records, grant expenditures, and other pertinent financial documentation.
  • Perform detailed analysis of healthcare claims, including those related to Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, VA, and other government-funded healthcare programs.
  • Conduct statistical sampling analyses, utilizing tools like RAT-STATS or similar software.
  • Calculate damages under the False Claims Act, determining penalties, restitution figures, and potential financial exposure.
  • Execute asset tracing and ability-to-pay assessments to aid the government in evaluating settlement strategies, financial recovery, and collection efforts.
  • Analyze extensive financial or healthcare datasets and organize evidence using standard analytical and visualization tools.
  • Trace financial activities of individuals, corporations, healthcare providers, contractors, grant recipients, and other entities.
  • Undertake forensic accounting examinations of incomplete, inconsistent, voluminous, or electronically stored financial records.
  • Review and interpret banking statements, tax returns, healthcare billing records, claims submissions, contracts, invoices, procurement documents, grant applications, and other documentary evidence.
  • Generate interim and final reports throughout the course of investigations and litigation.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Accumulate a minimum of three years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, healthcare claims analysis, forensic accounting, financial investigations, or similar analytical roles.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain the necessary background investigation clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
  • Possess a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.
