Internal Audit Director

Role Overview

Tuwaiq Casting & Forging Company is looking for a seasoned Internal Audit Director to head the internal audit function. This senior leadership position reports functionally to the Audit Committee/Board and administratively to the CEO. The role focuses on delivering independent and objective assurance and advisory support to strengthen internal controls, risk management, and governance across the business. The director will also build and run a comprehensive audit approach that aligns with company goals and applicable regulatory obligations.

Audit Strategy and Planning

• Set up and keep current the Internal Audit Charter.
• Create and maintain a risk-focused internal audit strategy and annual audit plan, aligned with the company’s direction and subject to Audit Committee approval.
• Build and update the risk universe and audit universe.
• Carry out enterprise-wide risk assessments.

Audit Delivery and Reporting

• Lead independent audits across all departments, business units, and functions to assess the design and operating effectiveness of controls, adherence to policies, and risk management practices.
• Review governance frameworks and organizational ethics.
• Evaluate fraud exposure and assist with fraud investigations when needed.
• Track the completion of management action plans.
• Produce detailed audit reports with findings, root causes, and practical recommendations, and ensure follow-up on agreed actions.
• Share audit outcomes with the Audit Committee and escalate major control deficiencies without delay.

Advisory and Risk Oversight

• Provide consultation and advisory input while preserving audit independence.
• Continuously track new and emerging risks across the organization.
• Review cybersecurity and IT control environments.
• Evaluate ESG and sustainability-related risks where relevant.
• Check compliance with corporate governance requirements.
• Arrange the External Quality Assessment (EQA) every five years.

Industrial and Operational Audit Coverage

• Assess manufacturing operations and related control environments.
• Review controls over maintenance, production, inventory, procurement, and quality management.
• Examine HSE compliance and operational risk exposure.
• Inspect ERP system controls.
• Evaluate project governance and capital expenditure controls.

Quality Assurance and Coordination

• Design and maintain quality assurance processes and measures so audit work consistently meets professional standards and internal expectations.
• Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and other assurance providers to ensure broad coverage and prevent overlap.

Function Leadership

• Oversee the internal audit budget and resources, including hiring and developing audit team members.
• Ensure adherence to IIA Standards and applicable local regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

The position calls for a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred. A CIA qualification, or an equivalent internal audit certification, is mandatory. CPA or ACCA credentials are considered an advantage. Applicants should bring at least 10 years of internal audit experience, including 5 years or more in a senior audit management or director-level position. A strong history of designing and delivering risk-based audit strategies in complex organizations is essential. Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or heavy equipment environments is preferred.
