By joining Egis, you become part of an organisation influencing the future of cities, transport, energy and the built environment, with work that creates real and lasting impact.
Role Overview
Egis is seeking Intermediate through Senior Transport Engineers and Designers to join its growing Aotearoa Transport Team in Wellington. These positions span transport design, engineering, project delivery and technical leadership, offering the opportunity to help deliver infrastructure that affects how people travel across Aotearoa.
The work centres on design-led transport projects, including urban infrastructure, roads, intersections, active transport modes and public transport assets. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop transport solutions that are safe, efficient and practical.
This opportunity is well suited to experienced transport professionals with strengths in transport design, traffic engineering and/or project delivery who want to take on more complex work and greater responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and lead the delivery of technically sound transport solutions across a range of projects while meeting programme, budget and quality targets.
- Draft, assess and refine technical documents, reports, specifications and schedules connected to transport project delivery.
- Promote and apply current safety-in-design practices and standards to strengthen user safety outcomes.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to produce integrated solutions that account for users and stakeholders.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with clients in the transport sector at both local and national levels.
- Share knowledge and guide junior team members through mentoring and technical support.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience delivering transport engineering and/or transport design outputs aligned with New Zealand standards and good practice.
- A relevant technical qualification in Civil Engineering or a similar engineering field.
- The ability to analyse transport engineering issues and solve them using solid theoretical understanding.
- Strong familiarity with Waka Kotahi (NZTA) guidance, along with local government transport standards, guidelines and specifications.
- Practical experience using design tools such as AutoCAD and 3D platforms like OpenRoads, Civil 3D or 12d; GIS exposure is an advantage.
- A full New Zealand driver’s licence and the ability to travel to site when required.
- Well-developed self-management skills and the ability to work with limited supervision.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a broad mix of internal and external stakeholders.
