About the Organization
New Horizons is a leading provider of mental health and addiction recovery services on the Treasure Coast and surrounding areas. Each year, the organization serves thousands of children and adults through inpatient crisis care, a 24-hour helpline, mobile response support, and outpatient programs across Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie counties. It also supports students in local schools and partners with courts, law enforcement, correctional facilities, and hospitals to strengthen community health and well-being.
Role Overview
The organization is seeking an Inpatient Data Collection Specialist to manage the collection, entry, and validation of important clinical and administrative information related to inpatient services. This position plays a key role in keeping data accurate, complete, and submitted on time while following organizational policies and regulatory standards. The role works closely with medical, nursing, and administrative teams to support reporting, quality assurance, and ongoing process improvements.
Schedule and Work Setting
This is an onsite, full-time role with flexible lunch hours and paid holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather daily inpatient details such as admissions, discharges, diagnoses, procedures, and treatment records.
- Enter patient information accurately into electronic health records, internal systems, and reporting platforms.
- Maintain prompt and accurate reporting of required clinical and operational measures.
- Check clinical records to confirm diagnoses, medications, and service delivery information.
- Spot missing or inconsistent information and work with care teams to correct it.
- Help ensure compliance with internal procedures and external reporting obligations.
- Prepare routine and ad hoc reports for internal stakeholders, regulatory filings, and audit needs.
- Monitor inpatient KPIs such as length of stay, readmission rates, and occupancy levels.
- Follow HIPAA and other relevant rules for protecting patient privacy and data security.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required; an associate degree or related coursework in health information, healthcare administration, or a similar area is preferred.
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience in healthcare data entry, medical records, or a comparable position.
- Working knowledge of inpatient processes and electronic health record systems.
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational ability.
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and data entry software.
- Ability to handle confidential information and perform well in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
- Must successfully complete a Level 2 background check through DCF and the AHCA Clearinghouse.
- Prior experience in a hospital, behavioral health, or skilled nursing facility is preferred.

This position is focused on supporting the integrity of inpatient data used for reporting, compliance, and service improvement. Candidates should be prepared to work in a regulated healthcare environment and coordinate with multiple internal teams.
