Overview

This contract role is for an Instructional Designer focused on training curriculum development for the SP&D team. The assignment is fully remote, and applicants may be based locally or outside the local area. The position is centered on building and maintaining learning content, tools, and programs that support employee performance, compliance, and safety standards.

Role Summary

You will work with curriculum development specialists and subject matter experts to create learning solutions that fit business requirements. The work includes analyzing content, structuring learning experiences, and refining materials so they meet company policies and industry expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set learning goals, organize course flow, and build assessments that measure understanding.
  • Review content and job tasks in depth to make sure the training matches audience needs and operational processes.
  • Prepare project plans and support budget tracking when needed.
  • Develop training assets that follow company standards, such as presentations, learner guides, activities, and assessments.
  • Partner with subject matter experts through meetings, reviews, and iterative content updates.
  • Apply feedback efficiently, while independently handling tasks and deadlines.
  • Raise issues and potential risks early to keep projects on track.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience creating instructor-led, eLearning, or virtual training content in a technical setting, ideally within the utility sector.
  • Strong technical writing ability.
  • Solid understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methods.
  • Good command of PowerPoint and Word.
  • Working familiarity with Excel.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects, stay composed under pressure, and adapt quickly.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to QuestionMark and Author-It.
  • Comfort working in a high-performing team culture.
  • Good awareness of safety-related practices and standards.
