About the Organisation
ARTC is one of Australia’s major rail network owners, playing a central role in keeping freight and passenger transport moving across the country. Each day, the organisation oversees the movement of more than 415 trains across five states, supported by a network of 9,600 km of track, 39 worksites, and connections to the lands of more than 50 First Nations. About the Team
The Operations function supports a wide range of customers and nationally important supply chains across five states. Its 8,500 km network carries bulk commodities, passengers, and general freight, including steel, groceries, electrical goods, and a broad mix of import and export cargo. The team operates in demanding environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia, with a strong focus on safe, efficient, and sustainable service delivery.
About the Role
Based in Geelong, Victoria, the Infrastructure Maintainer is responsible for hands-on rail track maintenance work. The role covers planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and minor construction work linked to capital upgrade projects. It also includes general labouring, safety protection tasks, visual inspections of rail track, operating heavy machinery, welding, and other maintenance duties, all performed to ARTC standards.
What You’ll Need
- Previous rail industry experience, particularly in track maintenance.
- Current rail industry competencies.
- Construction industry induction (white card).
- Plant and machinery operation tickets are an advantage.
- Proven welding experience in a rail or heavy industry setting is an advantage.
- Current driver’s licence and confidence driving a manual vehicle.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
