Job description

Opportunity

SHYFT Design is seeking an industrial designer to join its Stuttgart studio in Germany. German language skills are required for this role.

About the studio

SHYFT Design is an owner-managed product design studio based in Stuttgart. The team focuses on shaping products strategically, with a strong user-centred and holistic approach. They believe product designers carry responsibility both toward the people who use the products and the environment in which those products are created and used. Their work is aimed at improving users’ lives through durable, meaningful, and sustainable products, developed from the first idea through to a production-ready result.

The studio works on projects across consumer electronics, household products, and industrial design. As a young design studio, they value close collaboration, direct communication, and an equal working relationship with clients and colleagues.

Profile

  • A completed degree in product design or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • You should have strong spatial awareness and a solid feel for form, function, and materials.
  • Confident CAD ability in Rhino is needed, along with 3D visualisation skills using KeyShot or Blender.
  • Practical experience with prototyping and physical model making is important.
  • A conceptual mindset with enthusiasm for hands-on execution is expected.
  • You should bring initiative, a sense of responsibility, and motivation to work on real projects.
  • The role also calls for an independent, well-structured working style, teamwork, and a hands-on attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Take product work from early research through to a production-ready outcome.
  • Create 3D constructions, renderings, and visual presentations.
  • Build prototypes and physical models.
  • Contribute to projects in consumer electronics, household products, and industrial design.
  • Work directly with clients and project partners.
  • Help shape the studio’s workflow and culture.

What is offered

  • Flat organisational structure and short decision-making paths.
  • Challenging projects for both local and international clients.
  • A wide variety of tasks across different industries.
  • Flexible working hours and the option to work from home.
  • Creative freedom and responsibility from day one.
  • A small team with plenty of room to shape the work and have a direct impact.
  • Part-time lifestyle arrangement may be possible.
