About the role

This opportunity is for an IFR helicopter pilot based in Columbus, Mississippi, supporting life-saving air medical transport missions. The role is with a leading air ambulance organization known for operating to high safety and clinical response standards. Pilots in this position fly critical care missions in demanding conditions, where accuracy, composure, and sound judgment are essential.

To help attract the right candidate, the employer is offering a sign-on bonus of up to $75,000 and off-duty housing.

Job overview

  • Operate under PHI Air Medical/CAMTS standards in helicopter air ambulance service.
  • Serve as Captain on an EC135 in SPIFR/NVG operations, with an instrument rating required.
  • This is a 24-hour operation with day and night rotations.
  • If aircraft transition training is needed, a minimum 1-year service commitment applies.
  • If relocation assistance is used, a 2-year minimum service commitment applies.
  • Off-duty housing is provided.

Key duties

  • Carry out line pilot responsibilities in accordance with the General Operations Manual.
  • Work with internal teams and outside customers to deliver safe, efficient, courteous, and dependable service.
  • Support the Safety Management System, Destination Zero, and other safety-focused initiatives.
  • Take part in community outreach activities as required.
  • Assist with loading and unloading patients and equipment, including some lifting.

Candidate profile

  • Hold commercial and instrument helicopter ratings.
  • Maintain a First Class Medical certificate.
  • Meet CAMTS experience thresholds: 2,000 total hours; 1,500 helicopter hours; 1,000 PIC helicopter hours; 500 turbine helicopter hours; 100 hours in unaided night operations or 50 hours unaided plus 100 hours NVG; and 75 hours of instrument time (actual and hood).
  • Be able to satisfy the company weight policy, which limits individual weight to 235 lbs or less.
  • Show strong communication and customer service abilities with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Be able to pass a pre-placement physical, including a functional capacity assessment, drug screening, and background check.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be available for interview and acceptance by customer and PHI management.

Schedule and location

The base follows a 7-and-7 schedule, and the day of the week for schedule changes may vary. Off-duty housing is provided at the location in Columbus, MS.
