Job description

Role Overview

The Human Resources Generalist position is a key support role within the organization, with a strong emphasis on HR administration, HRIS operations, and day-to-day assistance for employees and managers. The role also contributes to benefits, training and development, recruitment, and special projects as needed.

Core Responsibilities

The work in this role centers on maintaining accurate HR processes and providing responsive support across the employee lifecycle.

  • Work with HR colleagues and business partners to make sure employee actions such as hires, job changes, and exits are completed correctly and on time.
  • Prepare and issue identification badges for access control at the Center.
  • Keep employee records current and organized in both paper and digital formats, while following privacy and confidentiality standards.
  • Support employee engagement efforts and related initiatives.
  • Deliver HRIS support by helping users with troubleshooting, guidance, and system-related questions.
  • Ensure HR data is entered, maintained, and protected according to internal rules, security expectations, privacy requirements, and applicable laws.
  • Stay informed about developments in HRIS platforms, vendors, and emerging technology trends.
  • Respond to internal and external HR inquiries in person, by phone, through the HRIS, and by email with a high level of service.
  • Support the benefits, training, and recruiting teams when needed.
  • Assist with, or independently lead, projects assigned by the Senior HR Generalist.

Working Conditions and Additional Information

This position has no direct supervisory duties and involves limited travel. The work setting is a climate-controlled office environment. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though schedules may change depending on organizational needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk between buildings, including stair use, to reach other departments.
  • Capability to sit for extended periods, typically 4 to 6 hours at a desk.
  • Ability to push, carry, and lift items, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds to waist height.
  • Visual ability, reading skills, wrist movement, and touch sensitivity needed to operate a computer terminal.
  • Ability to speak and hear clearly to assist employees, guests, and service providers in person and over the phone.
  • Regular interaction with employees and prospective employees of the Rocket Center.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or a related discipline. Prior experience in HR is required, along with a working knowledge of HR principles, practices, and procedures. Experience using HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite is also expected. A human resources certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP is considered an advantage.
