- Design and run HSE training for employees, contractors, and visitors to strengthen a culture that puts safety first.
- Serve as the main contact for statutory authorities and ensure prompt, accurate compliance reporting for permits, licenses, and safety/environmental laws.
- Track environmental performance metrics such as waste, energy use, emissions, and water consumption, and drive improvement initiatives.
- Build and maintain emergency preparedness plans, run drills regularly, and make sure teams are trained for response scenarios.
- Work closely with teams across operations, engineering, and HR to embed HSE requirements into day-to-day business activities.
- Prepare periodic HSE dashboards and reports for leadership, including trends, key indicators, and recommendations.
- Keep up to date with changing HSE laws, industry standards, and new practices, and update internal procedures accordingly.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant external and internal rules, procedures, and guidelines.
- Demonstrate Hitachi Energy’s values of safety and integrity through accountable, thoughtful action and care for colleagues and the business.
Candidate profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Professional HSE certification such as NEBOSH Diploma, CSP, or CRSP is strongly preferred.
- 12 to 15 years of progressive experience in HSE leadership, ideally in a multinational manufacturing, industrial, or technology setting.
- Strong exposure to greenfield projects and heavy engineering/transformer manufacturing environments.
- Solid understanding of local and international HSE laws, standards, and best practices.
- Proven experience in building, implementing, and managing effective HSE programs.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting ability with experience in risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and presentation skills, able to influence stakeholders across levels.
