Role overview

The Human Resources Generalist plays a central role in keeping the HR function running smoothly and acts as a go-to partner for employees and supervisors on a wide range of people-related matters. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources, this position supports talent acquisition, payroll and benefits administration, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, and compliance.

This role also provides informed guidance on HR policies and procedures, helps maintain consistent employment practices, supports the accuracy of HRIS data, and contributes to efficient day-to-day HR operations. Through a service-minded and collaborative approach, the HR Generalist helps foster a positive, compliant, and employee-centered workplace aligned with institutional goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Support a cooperative, service-driven environment that reflects the institution’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Help advance departmental and organizational priorities while contributing to a compliant, engaged, and high-performing workforce.
  • Administer payroll, benefits, and leave programs while safeguarding data accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate performance management and talent development activities such as evaluations, goal setting, feedback, succession planning, and development planning.
  • Organize new hire orientation, supervisor training, and employee development initiatives.
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and employee transition processes.
  • Provide advanced support for employee relations matters, workplace investigations, accommodations, and conflict resolution.
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and confidentiality, and prepare related reports as needed.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
