Overview

This is a full-time entry-level Human Resources role based remotely in Australia. The position is suited to someone who is organized, proactive, and eager to begin a career in HR while supporting day-to-day people operations in a collaborative virtual team.

Role summary

The HR Assistant will help with recruitment support, onboarding, employee file management, HR administration, and coordination tasks. The role also involves handling routine employee queries, assisting with compliance-related documentation, and supporting the wider HR team with general administrative work.

Key responsibilities

  • Help with hiring tasks such as publishing vacancies, reviewing applications, and arranging interview schedules.
  • Assist in welcoming and orienting new team members.
  • Keep employee records, HR systems, and personnel documents accurate and up to date.
  • Draft and organize HR paperwork such as offer letters, contracts, and reports.
  • Answer employee questions related to HR policies, processes, and workplace issues.
  • Support the coordination of training sessions, meetings, and staff engagement activities.
  • Assist with leave tracking, attendance monitoring, and other HR admin duties.
  • Contribute to compliance tasks and maintain well-organized documentation.
  • Help compile reports and safeguard confidential employee information.
  • Provide everyday administrative support to the HR department.

Requirements

  • A diploma or bachelor’s qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a similar discipline is preferred.
  • Strong planning, organization, and time-management ability.
  • Clear written and spoken communication skills.
  • Careful attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information professionally and discreetly.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote setting.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Prior exposure to administration, customer support, or HR work is helpful but not mandatory.
