Job Overview
Blackstone Mountain Lodge is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to join their team in Canmore, Alberta. This is a full-time, onsite position. While formal education is not required, the ability to perform tasks efficiently and with attention to detail is essential. Training will be provided to the successful candidate.
Work Environment
The role is based in a hotel, motel, or resort setting. Staff accommodation is available, and public transportation is accessible. The work environment is fast-paced, can be demanding, and requires working under pressure with tight deadlines. Employees must be comfortable with repetitive tasks, physically demanding work, and maintaining a high level of attention to detail. The job involves significant physical activity including bending, crouching, kneeling, standing for extended periods, and walking. Employees will be required to handle weights up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of guest rooms and public areas.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, washing, and polishing floors.
- Dust all surfaces, including furniture and fixtures.
- Vacuum carpets, rugs, draperies, and upholstered furniture.
- Change bed linens and make beds.
- Replenish toiletries and distribute clean towels.
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect kitchen and bathroom areas, including fixtures and appliances.
- Clean and sanitize elevators.
- Manage and report any lost and found items.
- Respond to guest requests for additional supplies or services.
- Provide basic information about hotel facilities to guests.
- Remove debris and empty trash receptacles.
- Undertake general light housekeeping and cleaning duties as needed.
- Wash windows, walls, and ceilings.
- Address and resolve guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
Requirements
- No specific degree, certificate, or diploma is required.
- On-the-job training will be provided.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
- Proficiency in handling repetitive tasks and working under pressure.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and possess strong judgment.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility and initiative are valued.
- Patience, honesty, and a client-focused approach are essential.
- A valid Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate is required.
- A criminal record check will be conducted.
