Role overview
Ramsay Health Care UK is looking for a Housekeeper to join Berkshire Independent Hospital in Reading. This position plays an important part in keeping clinical spaces safe, hygienic and welcoming so that patients receive the best possible care. The role is patient-facing and requires a positive, service-led approach, strong standards and a willingness to adapt. You will help maintain cleanliness across the hospital, including wards and theatres, and full training will be provided, including instruction on infection prevention and control requirements.
Working hours and pay
This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week. The salary is £24,944 per year.
Key duties
You will support the upkeep of the hospital environment by cleaning and maintaining a range of areas across the site. The role involves working in clinical and non-clinical settings, helping ensure standards remain consistently high and supporting patient care through a clean and organised environment.
Person specification
The ideal candidate is warm, thoughtful and empathetic, with strong customer service skills and a flexible approach to work. You should be able to learn quickly, respond well to change and communicate clearly with others. The ability to manage your own workload, work well both independently and as part of a team, and maintain a professional manner in a patient-facing setting is essential. Knowledge of hospital infection prevention practices would be an advantage.
