About the Role
Comfort Keepers Victoria is seeking a caring and dependable housekeeper to support clients in their homes in the James Bay area of Victoria, British Columbia. This role is focused on non-medical, in-home assistance that helps people stay comfortable, respected, and independent while living safely at home.
The position is best suited to someone who is naturally compassionate, reliable, and comfortable working one-on-one with clients. The work combines practical household support with companionship and attentive observation, all delivered with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver non-medical assistance in line with each client’s plan of care.
- Provide companionship through conversation, reading, activities, and other forms of social interaction.
- Support clients’ emotional well-being and help maintain mental alertness.
- Carry out light housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, laundry, and cleaning bathrooms.
- Prepare meals for clients as needed.
- Notice and report any changes in a client’s physical, emotional, or mental condition.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and team members.
- Complete documentation accurately and within required timelines.
- Take part in training sessions, staff meetings, and ongoing learning opportunities.
- Follow confidentiality expectations and use equipment safely.
- Handle other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma is the minimum educational requirement.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or a willingness to keep it up to date.
- Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check.
- Reliable transportation is preferred, and having a valid driver’s licence plus insurance is an advantage.
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and commitment to client care.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Genuine interest in helping others, along with honesty and integrity.
- Comfort with regular physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, reaching, and light lifting up to 12 kg / 25 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and hand strength are required.
- Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens or infectious diseases.
