Role overview
iMPROve Health is looking for a summer intern to contribute to research and analysis work focused on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Federal Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) program. The role offers practical exposure to healthcare data, research methods, and reporting that supports internal decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Examine CMS Federal Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) public use files along with the related reference materials.
- Analyze publicly available Federal IDR datasets to surface trends, patterns, and important observations.
- Condense the results into clear summaries and internal reports for review and discussion.
- Support the cleanup, structuring, checking, and interpretation of data.
- Share findings and suggested next steps with project stakeholders when needed.
- Handle other closely related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Applicants should be currently enrolled in, or have recently finished, a degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Healthcare Management, or a similar discipline.
- Strong problem-solving ability and sound analytical judgment are needed.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are expected; familiarity with data analysis software is an added advantage.
- Clear written and spoken communication is important.
- Must be able to work on your own and balance several assignments at once.
- Knowledge of C++, Python, and SQL is preferred.
