Role Overview
The Healthcare Data Analyst will deliver analytical support for medical and pharmacy data, trends, and business performance. The position requires a strong understanding of business operations and the ability to convert complex data into insights that support decision-making. The analyst will also contribute to market analysis, cost control evaluation, dispensing and purchasing analysis, and other business-focused projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a strong understanding of the company’s processes and industry practices.
- Examine major business problems using quantitative methods and interpretations of utilization and healthcare cost information.
- Turn business questions into clear analytic approaches and usable outputs.
- Use data analysis to recommend actions that support important business decisions.
- Spot and assess new trends for internal and external stakeholders through client data review.
- Track operational, financial, clinical, and utilization metrics to identify patterns and share findings with leadership.
- Create and present cost-benefit analyses for proposed programs and connect recommendations to company goals.
- Perform ad hoc analysis from detailed datasets as needed.
- Explain complex findings in a clear and concise way across different business functions.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area such as Information Science, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Finance, or Math is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in a healthcare analytics role.
- Minimum 3 years of intermediate-level experience with SQL and Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Technical and Professional Requirements
- Ability to work under frequent deadlines while producing accurate and relevant analysis.
- Strong troubleshooting ability to identify the source of unusual or questionable data results.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
- Working knowledge of healthcare terminology and familiarity with provider, claims, lab, financial, and enrollment data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced programming and analytics capability, including tools such as Python and R, model development, regression analysis, and advanced analytics or AI tools.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $70,218.51 to $117,008.35 per year. Final pay depends on education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment.
