Role overview
This leadership role in hospital administration is responsible for overseeing end-to-end operations at the Patna facility. The position focuses on ensuring reliable service delivery, strong operational control, and high-quality patient care across medical and non-medical functions.
Reporting line
The role reports to the Medical Director at the Patna location.
Scope of work
- Medical operations and non-medical operations
- Parmedical in-charges across departments
- Stores and inventory-related functions
- Medical administration and nursing coordination
- Doctors operating at defined levels
Key responsibilities
- Take overall ownership of medical and non-medical operations, while supporting the hospital’s long-term growth, development, and operational sustainability.
- Oversee policies, processes, and clinical care protocols so that patient care is delivered safely, efficiently, and in an organized way.
- Work closely with clinicians, paramedical leaders, and nursing teams to align service delivery.
- Support the integration of medical services into the hospital’s broader service framework.
- Drive process-improvement initiatives that strengthen care quality, treatment standards, and service experience.
- Review patient feedback and audit outcomes to confirm that care delivery meets required standards.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory hospital requirements and manage liaison with government authorities for licenses, approvals, inspections, and related follow-ups.
- Contribute as a member of committees such as Infection Control, Credentialing and Privileging, Sexual Harassment, and Academic committees.
- Monitor the daily functioning of diagnostic services, including laboratories, radiology, and blood bank operations.
- Coordinate OPD and IPD activity with doctors, nurses, front office teams, and billing staff, including doctor seating arrangements in OPDs.
- Participate in staff recruitment and selection, including involvement in doctor hiring up to the defined level.
- Build a routine culture of operations review meetings, address cross-functional operational challenges, and ensure minutes are documented and circulated.
- Handle day-to-day operational matters across OPD, diagnostics, blood bank, emergency, and IPD areas.
- Take part in quality-focused committees, meetings, and planning activities.
- Review, select, and monitor relevant departmental contracts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the reporting authority.
Qualifications
Preferred educational background includes MBBS with MS/MD. An MBA or MHA is also acceptable.
Experience and skills
Candidates should bring 18 to 20 years of overall experience, including more than 12 years in operations or administration. Strong communication ability, liaison capability, and the confidence to manage relationships with clinicians, nursing, quality teams, administration, government bodies, and headquarters are essential.
