Job description
Job Summary
This role leads the ministry’s media communications efforts, shaping information programs and bulletins that explain the ministry’s mandate, activities, and areas of responsibility. The position is also responsible for securing effective media coverage of the ministry’s work, building and sustaining strong relationships with media outlets, and handling ministry statements, articles, conferences, media interviews, and health announcements.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct media communication activities, including the preparation of articles, press kits, press releases, and related content.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with media professionals and representatives.
- Safeguard and strengthen the ministry’s public image through consistent and coordinated media affairs work.
- Oversee how organizational news is shared with the media.
- Improve communication processes to increase clarity and accuracy in messaging.
- Review and approve messages for press releases, media pitches, talking points, social media content, speeches, media statements, op-eds, and letters to the editor.
- Supervise the drafting and editing of press releases, organizational publications, and articles for both internal and external audiences.
- Handle public requests and complaints by directing them to the appropriate administrative units and replying to inquiries.
- Support customer satisfaction by gathering feedback on health service quality and recommending improvements.
- Promote effective two-way communication between the ministry and its audience.
- Provide training to team members in media affairs and public relations skills.
- Ensure all work complies with MOPH laws, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Carry out additional duties as required to support organizational needs.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in Media, Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or another relevant field is required. A master’s degree in Public Health is preferred. The grade for the role will be determined according to the candidate’s education and experience in line with HR law.
