Job description

About the Company

CYCLE is working to reshape city mobility for the couriers, riders, and delivery professionals who keep urban logistics running. The company offers an e-bike subscription model built around rugged bikes, quick maintenance, and dependable rider support so users can keep moving without unnecessary downtime.

Operating from Berlin, the business serves 200+ cities across Europe, including locations such as London, Vienna, and Amsterdam. Its vehicles are designed for heavy daily use and practical work conditions rather than presentation.

The company’s purpose is to make last-mile delivery more dependable, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible, contributing to smarter and greener cities through every bike deployed.

Role Overview

In this role, you will contribute to the technical development of a new cargo e-bike concept from the earliest design stage through to readiness for production. Your work will focus on the mechanical systems and parts that ensure rider safety, durability, and reliable operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and engineer mechanical parts for e-bikes and cargo bikes.
  • Choose, assess, and compare parts and suppliers, including drivetrain, frame, brakes, and electronics interface components.
  • Prepare technical requirements, drawings, and specification documents.
  • Plan, run, and review testing activities as well as prototype evaluations.
  • Work with outside manufacturing and development partners throughout the product development process.
  • Make sure the product meets quality, safety, and applicable standards such as EN 15194.
  • Partner closely with Product Management and Operations to align the design with fleet operations needs.

Requirements

  • A degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Professional experience in the development of mechanical components, preferably for bicycles, e-bikes, or light vehicles.
  • Strong practical ability with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or Fusion 360.
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing methods and material characteristics.
  • A structured, hands-on, and detail-focused approach to problem solving.
  • Comfortable working in both German and English.
  • Preferred experience includes working with suppliers and manufacturing partners, familiarity with e-bike certification and standards, and knowledge of electrical/electronics integration in e-bikes.

What You Can Expect

  • A competitive compensation package matched to your background and experience.
  • A broad benefits offering, including private healthcare through Medicover and Medicover Sport.
  • The opportunity to help shape a brand-new product from concept stage onward.
  • Direct exposure to how development decisions affect real-world fleet operations.
  • Close collaboration within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Freedom to contribute your own technical ideas and solutions.

Diversity and Inclusion

CYCLE emphasizes an inclusive and welcoming hiring process. Applications are encouraged from people of all genders, gender identities, ages, abilities, body sizes, races, religions, sexual orientations, and nationalities. If you need any accommodations to make the recruitment process more accessible or comfortable, you are encouraged to share that in advance.
