Job description

About the Company

CBRE Excellerate is a major provider of commercial real estate services and investment solutions, delivering an integrated range of property-related services across Africa and the Middle East. Its offering includes facilities management, advisory and transaction support, and project management. The business primarily serves corporate clients on contract-based arrangements, with coverage that can extend across the Middle East, Africa, and in some cases globally, depending on client portfolios.

Why Join

Working with CBRE Excellerate means joining a global organization that values initiative, ambition, and high-quality delivery. The environment is designed to encourage entrepreneurial thinking, strong collaboration, and professional growth, supported by experienced colleagues and extensive resources.

Role Overview

The Handyman position is a practical, site-based role focused on providing dependable general maintenance services across several client locations. The successful candidate will work both independently and alongside a small on-site team to address routine maintenance needs, handle call-outs, and keep facilities operating to the required standard. The job also involves strict adherence to safety procedures, clear communication with clients and management, and accurate digital record-keeping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general building maintenance and repair tasks across multiple client sites.
  • Lead and support on-site team members by assigning tasks and checking that work meets quality expectations.
  • Guide and coach junior or less experienced colleagues when needed.
  • Support the electrical, HVAC, and handyman teams whenever assistance is required.
  • Respond promptly to site call-outs, including both reactive repairs and planned preventative maintenance activities.
  • Track everyday maintenance requests and ensure all jobs are completed and recorded properly.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly site inspections in line with service level agreements.
  • Complete administrative records such as digital job cards, reports, supplier invoices, and delivery notes.
  • Follow all health, safety, and operational procedures at every stage of the work.
  • Be available for standby duty as required.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in general building or facilities maintenance.
  • Previous exposure to supervising or coordinating a team, including on-site task management.
  • A trade qualification or technical certificate in building maintenance, construction, or a related area is an advantage.
  • Practical ability in carpentry, painting, ceiling repairs, drywall work, basic masonry, welding, plumbing, office furniture repair, carpet and blind repairs, tiling, and lamp replacement.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance chemicals, tools, and machinery.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices, including safe use of chemicals and equipment.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone and mobile apps for job cards, checklists, and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to move between sites.
  • Professional communication skills for dealing with clients on site.
  • Reliable, honest, and attentive to detail.

Additional Information

These qualifications are considered important for the role, but the list is not exhaustive. The position also requires the ability to work independently, support specialist teams when necessary, and maintain a strong focus on service delivery and client satisfaction.

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is suited to dependable maintenance professionals who enjoy hands-on work, can manage tasks with minimal supervision, and are comfortable working across multiple locations. Candidates with a strong sense of integrity, attention to detail, and a practical approach to problem-solving will be a strong fit.
