Overview

First Choice Haircutters is hiring a hairstylist for its Val Caron, Ontario location.

Language Requirement

English fluency is required.

Education

You should have an other trades certificate or diploma, or an equivalent level of experience.

Experience

Previous experience is considered an asset, but it is not mandatory.

Work Location

This role is fully on site. Work needs to be carried out at the physical workplace, and remote work is not available.

Work Setting

The position is based in a barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio environment.

Responsibilities

The hairstylist will handle a range of client-facing grooming and styling duties, from scheduling appointments to delivering haircuts, treatments, and colour services.

Tasks

• Arrange and manage client appointments.
• Cut and shape hair according to each client’s instructions or preferred style.
• Wash clients’ hair before services.
• Shave and groom beards and moustaches.
• Provide additional hair treatments such as waving, straightening, tinting, and scalp conditioning massages.
• Apply bleach, tints, dyes, or rinses to create colour, frost, or streak effects.
• Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm, and style hair.
• Recommend hairstyles that suit the client’s features and preferences.
• Carry out receptionist-related duties.

Credentials

A hairstylist licence is required.

Hair Styling Techniques

Experience with blow drying, iron waving/curling, permanents, and roller setting is part of the role.

Hair Colouring Techniques

The work includes bleach, dyes/tints, frosting, and streaking/highlights.
