Job description

About the company

autarc was established in Berlin and is a startup of around 40 people. It joined Y Combinator’s S24 batch in San Francisco. The organization includes teams across Sales, Marketing, Tech, and Operations, while Marketing is currently a small group of about two people and is expanding over the year.

Role overview

As a Graphic / Motion Designer, you will become part of a lean but highly driven Marketing & Growth team supporting the global rollout of autarc’s software. You will work closely with Mariella Gradler, Senior Marketing Manager and one of the company’s earliest team members, alongside a Graphic Designer and a Videographer. The team is growing further, with hiring underway for a Performance Marketing Manager and a Webflow Builder.

The role is centered on motion design. Most of your output will be animated creative for ads, social content, newsletters, and the website. You will also contribute to selected static design work whenever campaigns require it. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in animation, has a solid design foundation, and can deliver quickly without compromising quality.

Key responsibilities

In this position, you will create motion-driven and design support assets across multiple channels, while helping build a reusable visual system for the team.

  • Develop polished motion assets for Meta ads, Instagram, LinkedIn, newsletters, and the website
  • Produce animated product videos in After Effects
  • Turn existing brand elements and footage into compelling social-first animations
  • Edit and repurpose video content for paid and organic distribution
  • Assist with static creative needs such as social graphics, ad variants, and campaign materials aligned to brand guidelines
  • Maintain and expand a reusable library of motion templates and design files in After Effects and Figma
  • Work with the Graphic Designer and Videographer to keep the visual language consistent across deliverables
  • Handle several assets per campaign cycle efficiently and with minimal supervision

Requirements

The role calls for a motion designer with substantial hands-on experience and strong creative judgment.

  • At least 2 years of professional motion design experience
  • Strong command of After Effects, with motion design as a primary discipline rather than a secondary skill
  • A portfolio that showcases motion work prominently, ideally alongside some static design examples
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, or similar tools
  • Strong attention to brand consistency and visual polish
  • Ability to work independently and organize your own priorities
  • Comfortable communicating in German and/or English

Perks and benefits

  • Choice of equipment within a defined budget
  • 26 days of paid leave each year
  • Annual team retreat
  • Mobility benefit with a choice between Dance or JobRad
  • Fitness benefit with a choice between Classpass or Urban Sports Club
  • Regular team events, shared lunches, and group activities

Hiring process

If selected, the interview process includes a screening conversation with Louis (Recruiter), a culture-fit video call with a team member, a take-home case study, and a final on-site interview with Etienne (CEO) and the wider team.

About the mission

In Europe, heating buildings accounts for roughly 25% of CO2 emissions. Reducing that footprint requires making the shift to renewable energy easier and more accessible. The market also needs more installers to keep up with demand for heat pumps, which means practical tools are needed to support the transition.

autarc is building the leading operating system for heat pump installers, helping make the installation process more digital and efficient. The company aims to remove barriers to decarbonizing single-family homes and small apartment buildings across Europe, with a target of supporting the planning and design of 1 million heat pumps by 2030.
